About Resident Shoppers Service Online

Mary Ann Rosen

In February 1974, Resident Shopper's Service, Inc. was formed. Since that time we have been providing quality, affordable clothing to nursing homes, health related, and state facilities. It began with Mary Ann Rosen working out of the basement stockroom of her husband's clothing store in Rome, New York. For years, Mrs. Rosen served as a dedicated volunteer at local nursing homes, where she observed a unique problem that residents had: difficulty shopping for new clothes. Volunteers like herself had to shop for them, or they would rely on relatives to provide them with what they needed. She felt residents could benefit from the fun and excitement that shopping for their own wardrobe would provide. This gave Mary Ann and idea. If residents couldn't go to the store, why not bring the store to them?

After 30 years and numerous awards, including the "Community Better Life Award of the American Nursing Home Association" in recognition of MaryAnn's "Unselfish & dedicated efforts in behalf of better health care of the aged, chronically ill, and convalescent" , today, Resident Shopper's Service, Inc., the "Department Store on Wheels", visits 300 facilities across New York State. We carry a full line of bright, colorful dresses, shirts, slacks, and shoes: Clothing that provides convenience and comfort at affordable prices. Specializing in the needs of the elderly, we carry an entire line of clothing especially designed for people confined to wheelchairs. A visit from Shopper' s Service is a social event that residents look forward to twice a year.

Now, customers can enjoy the same quality merchandise and service every day of the year by shopping online. Thousands of satisfied customers have discovered this unique experience and have come to appreciate the attention, special care, and concern this company has for their clothing needs.

Lynn Rosen

Lynn has worked in the retail clothing field since she was a teenager, first as a clerk, and then as a men's clothing buyer for Rosen's Men's Wear.

In 1981, she began working for Resident Shoppers Service, a specialized clothing store founded by her mother, Mary Ann, servicing over 300 nursing homes in NYS. Lynn went from office clerk to President of this prospering business.

Resident Shoppers Service carries hard to find adaptive clothing catering to the physically challenged, nursing home and home health care residents. We have expanded the availability of our specialty clothing by inviting those interested in specific items to stop in and tour our warehouse. Customers are warmly greeted and offered the well-known "one-on-one" service Resident Shoppers Service is known for.

Lynn's life long compassion for animals shows through her work as President of the Humane Society of Rome, Inc. Also, Lynn was chosen as the recipient of the 1995 Athena Award, honoring her outstanding work in the community. Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffmann honored Lynn in May 2000 as a "Woman of Distinction". In addition, Lynn received an award from the Elite "Who's Who Among Outstanding Female Executives" for her leadership abilities. Lynn currently serves on the Boards of RIDC and The Rome Community Foundation and for many years served on the Chamber of Commerce Board.
